Sleep Tip: Limiting Water Before Bedtime

If you have trouble staying asleep because you have frequent trips to the bathroom, you should limit the amount of fluids that you drink before bed.  Try not to drink any water or beverages at least 90 minutes before you get ready for bed.  It takes about an hour and a half for the liquids to funnel out your system.   It is also important to make sure your body is hydrated by drinking at least 8-10 cups of water during the day.  A well hydrated body will help prevent you from waking up and feeling thirsty in the middle of the night. It is a given that you should also avoid any caffeinated drinks in the later part of your day (but that’s another story, another post).  Check in with us next week for our perspective on caffiene – how much is too much.  Sleep Well!
