Melatonin Rich Cherries Help You Sleep
Now I have another reason to eat cherries! Cherries have been found to help bring on sleep. They are so delicious and fun to eat. My kids faces do get stained by the rich color because they can’t stop eating them. Now that summer is approaching, cherries are in plentiful supply (cheaper too) at your local supermarket.
The cool thing about cherries is they are plentiful in melatonin. The best, most melatonin rich cherries are Montmorency, which are tart and yummy. I highly recommend eating a small bowl of cherries after dinner as a cool, refreshing, non-fattening desert. Here are 5 more ways to enjoy cherries this summer:
1. Add dried cherries to your cereal in the morning.
2. Add dried cherries to tossed salads.
3. Make cherry muffins instead of blueberry muffins. My kids love them!
4. Add frozen cherries to smoothies. Try our delicious Cherry Mango Smoothie tonight!
5. Drink cherry juice as you recover from a workout.

After reading your article I whipped up your smoothie – yummy but a bit time intensive so I searched the market for cherry drinks – bingo, Sunkist makes a smoothie called BERRY CHERRY BOUNTIFUL: Raspberry, Cherry & Strawberry Smoothie. Although it was not cheap, I think around $4, my kids LOVE it!! Who would think yummy, rich in vitamins and will help my kids sleep – I think I found a winner.
