iPhone App to Make You Relax and Sleep Better: White Noise

iPhone App to Make You Relax and Sleep Better: White Noise

It was 3 AM last night and I couldn’t sleep.  The words can’t sleep have been on my mind for the last three weeks.  As I was debating internally whether I should get up or take a Tylenol PM, I rolled over and grabbed my iPhone to play Scrabble.  I accidentally hit the button to launch the Apple App store. I suddenly wondered whether there was an iPhone app for insomniacs!  By the way, iPhone apps are compatible with iPod Touch.  Apple has applications from recipes to applications that mimic fart noises.  Lo and behold, they have several applications that are supposed to help you sleep!

In fact, there are currently 30 iPhone apps (some are free and some are paid).  Below are the applications that I downloaded and my list of pros and cons.

1.  White Noise iPhone App provides ambient sounds of the environment to help you relax or sleep. Includes high quality looping noises such as waves crashing on a beach, crickets chirping at night, and the soothing sound of rain fall.

PROS:Easy to use interface allows the user to select the sound, adjust volume, balance, pitch. A shut-off timer and volume fader option is also available.

CONS: The develop needs to tweak some of the sounds.  When I tried the white noise, it sounded like TV static; and I ended up with a headache.  Would love for the White Noise developers to add more sound options.  There are currently 8 noise options (beach, fireplace, white noise, ocean, amazon, thunder, water and crickets).

OVERALL:

I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars.   I enjoyed the beach sounds and liked the various options that the White Noise developer provided.  I think there were more advantages than disadvantages to this Apple app.  Looking forward to my continued use of the product.

I came across your site last week and came back to tell you about an app that helps me sleep. I downloaded it last week and have had great sleeps listening to it every night. it is by Michael Schneider and it is called Deep Relaxation.
    Thank you
